Over the last forty years my painting has evolved as a path for making prayer “visible”. Working primarily with water-based paint and collage, my paintings emerge through a sense of my deep listening and “felt” conversation with the Unseen. In surrendering to the unknowable direction each creation will take, the canvas becomes an altar where a visual story unfolds. Imagery reveals itself from a place of felt accord and intuition.
As I build each painting through color relationships, archetypal symbols, patterns, and relational elements, the accumulated layers reference life experiences and the mystery of the unknown. It is my intention that my paintings reflect a dimension of unity, light, and harmony as a beacon of optimism in the strength of the human spirit. And it is my hope that they offer healing, joyfulness, and shared humanity as we seek to build community and find our meaning in the world.
